4.13 inches of rain

in 24 hours.   It was pretty amazing.  Started Tuesday.  Rained all day, very windy.

We make the trek over 46.  Had to drop it in low a few times as I thought for sure we were going to slide right over the edge.  It was so windy in parts the rain was blowing sideways.  Add in some fog and it was quite a nerve wracking ride home.  We get to the junction of 46 and 1 and the intersection light was out.  Not a good sign.   We head for home and the first section of town is black, same with the next and the next. Usually when the power goes out one section still has power but the entire town was black.

No problem I think, I have new lanterns and plenty of batteries.  We get home get the lanterns going and I try and puzzle out what I can make the kids for dinner without blowing us up or gassing us.  I then think to call the outage line.  They said "due to widespread power outages we cannot give an estimated time of when your power will be restored."  Umm great, maybe 10 minutes maybe 10 hours.  So I call Judd and say find us a room and then proceed to try and pack a bag in the dark for 4 people.  We brave the drive back over 46 (not any better this go round) but get into a nice clean, dry, WARM room.  No idea for sure when our power came back on.  People I've talked to said it came on in different parts of town from 9 to 2 am.  So we could have braved it out but it was nice to sleep in till 7:30 rather than being on the road at 7!

No damage that I see in our section.  No trees down but lots of small branches, pinecones and pine needles.    The boys swimming pool is halfway down the hill so I'll need to figure out how to retrieve that.

I now we needed rain but jeepers that was a bit much!
