Consultation

Logan had his 6 mo dentist visit last week and he did awesome. They even took an Xray of one of his teeth.

At his last 6 mo appt (his very first) Dr. C asked me if there was anything I was concerned about and I told him about one of his molars that didn't seem to be growing. He said he had noticed it and said lets wait and see if at his next appt it hasn't grown or anything we will take an Xray and see whats what. So lo and behold it appears one of the roots is hooked and possibly grown into the bone. He referred us to an oral surgeon to get his opinion.

We went today and unfortunately Logan would not cooperate and get a digital Xray so he wasn't working with a clear an Xray as he would have liked but he basically said we are damned if we pull it and damned if we dont. Either way has the possbility for bad orthodontia later. If we leave it alone its likely to be worse and more surgically involved. If we pull it its possible the developing tooth won't develop properly or will be misshapen and have to be pulled later. He felt the best option would be to pull it now as it will only be more painful and involved if we wait and if the root has grown into the jaw it could cause problems as his jaw grows. So we are having it pulled on the 3rd. Logan will have to be knocked out for it so not looking forward to that. Dr C will have to put a spacer in so the other teeth wont grow or tip in the empty space and hopefully the permanent tooth will grow in correctly.
