Thought there would be no Thomas adventure this year but both said they wanted to go so we got some tickets and headed up to a campground in Felton.
We were on the search for the "mystery" cargo Thomas was carrying.
Thomas chugs us through the redwoods
We hit the imagination station area to play with toys
Ronan's hulk face
get some tatoos
Play on a big pile o dir
Logan at the top of a rock sculpture at the park
Our campsite. This place was really nice. They do have you packed in like sardines but its beautiful. Nice shower/bathroom areas and lots of fun little "areas"
Like this
View coming into the park
One of the play areas. Four square and tetherball
View from the bathroom area
another one
Hanging out on the benches
climbing the tree in our campsite
heading down to the river
Ronan had no traction and ended up with mud everywhere
Logan scootered his legs off
A ferocious bear and a statue
waiting to board
chug chug chugging along
One of Logan's misadventures. He crashed his scooter and his loose tooth flew out! He ended up with by the end of the weekend with a couple scrapes on his legs, a scrape on his nose, a cut lip and a missing tooth.
Sunday we went over to Henry Cowell State Park and walked the Redwood Grove trail. We got to see Thomas from that side rather than the Roaring camp side.
We saw some deer having a snack
Waiting for Thomas to chug by. We saw people watching from here yesterday so we wanted to give it a try.
There he goes!
The tallest tree in the park, 270 feet tall and 17 feet around. About the size of the Statue of Liberty.
Redwoods burn from the inside as their bark is fire resistant. If there is enough of the tree alive it continues to grow. You could walk right through this one.
The shot that started the demise of our trip. We upset a yellowjacket nest and both boys got stunk. Ronan 4 times, they were up his shirt and shorts and Logan once. It was not a fun time. both were shrieking at the top of their lungs and I was trying to get them off. Rotten little buggers were persistent.
After we got them all off and everyone in the car, Ronan said " this is no longer the best trip ever". Luckily neither of them are allergic! We made it home with no futher mishaps. Our trailer, with its nice new brakes, worked perfectly.
One more camping trip on the agenda this summer but I think for sure we will head back to this park next year and explore the Redwood Park.
