We're back.....

From our trip to Willow Creek. It was fun, hot and tiring.

We stopped on the way up in Santa Rosa at Howarth Park and the boys wanted to ride the train. Logan didn't much like the whistle.
Ronan was Mr. Serious

The first morning, the boys were anxious to get down to the river so I hiked down there with them where much rock throwing ensued.

They did not realize however that squatting to pick up rocks results in wet butts.

Not even there 2 hours and already a change of clothing was needed. Afterwards we enjoyed some hot chocolate.

Some baby birds were roosting in one of the bird houses at the cabin.

Logan did his annual berry picking

We drove up to Horse Linto Creek to play a bit. More rock/mud/stick throwing.

It was nice and cool there, Ronan for whatever reason wasn't much interested in getting in.

He preferred to show off his muscles on the beach

Logan however, had to be held back from going out in the middle and getting swept away. James thankfully let him throw mud on him to keep him occupied.

And for reasons known only to Logan, he decided on the hike back to the car that his shorts needed to be pulled down.....

Ronan did enjoy the dog door very much. Since She Bear did it, he figured he would too. I don't think he ever tried to open the door just went through the dog door.

I love the look on Ronan's face in this one. James had this airplane that you stuck on the end of this think, pumped it up, pushed a button and it shot into the air.

We also have the annual pose in the back of grampa's pickup truck

There was some tractor driving

And we bought a slip n slide. I figured Ronan would be gung ho to try it and Logan would refuse to do it. But roles were reversed. This was as much as Ronan would go near the thing.

Logan on the other hand would only get off when he was nearly frozen solid.

He also got crazy and did some knee slides

We also went down to Big Rock to play in the river and watch the helicopters take off and land. There were a couple of fires going on and they were staging there and picking up equipment, fire fighters and water.

Dropping down to pick up a bucket of water

Ronan poses at the foot of Bigfoot

Doesn't quite measure up

We visited an old school friend and his little girls. Logan was in hog heaven because he got to drive the pink "mustache"

On the 4th we went into Eureka and checked out the Old Town celebration. Logan and Ronan did a little fishing. Ronan caught a dolphin (don't tell the Feds!). Logan caught a fish and this frog.

Logan also practiced his driving skills some more

Then we headed to my Aunt Rose's ranch for a BBQ. There the boys enjoyed checking out all the farm machinery

including seeing how big the bucket of a loader was

They had these funny balloons that you pumped up and let fly. They squeeked and squealed and flew all over. It was hysterical.

There was much blowing of bubbles

After the trip to Horse Linto Creek our car was pretty dirty so Logan and James gave it a wash.

After all of that we had two tired buddies. Now imagine trying to sleep in that little triangle at the edge of the bed and you'll know how much sleep I got during our trip!

Ronan powers some pancake at breakfast

Cousin James and (cheeeeese) Ronan

James, Ronan, Logan and Auntie Jaye

All in all it was really fun to go up. We didn't go to the lake to fish but we can always do that another time. I'd have hated to go to the trouble of loading up all the gear, getting there and than having either or both of them refusing to go in! Its just too bad its so FAR away. 12 hours in the car is just NOT FUN.

I agree about the long car ride. We just won't do it again, too far, and too long. But dang is it fun once you get to that destination!
