We headed off to the Mid State Fair last night. I was so completely irritated by the time we got there I forgot my bag that had the sunscreen, jackets and camera. We really didn't need anything but the camera and I'm so kicking myself over that one.
Anyway we finally get there and we cruise through the animal barns. They had a really cool new reptile exhibit with lots of snakes and newts and turtles and alligators and oddly enough a parrot. Logan got to pet the alligator (curses no photo) and was really interested at looking at all the snakes.
We then got something to eat and did a fast pass through the home arts building. Logan wanted nothing to do with that so I didn't get to check out all the stuff.
We hit the midway and had our first meltdown. I bought the prepaid carnival wristbands and no way no how was Logan letting some stranger put it on him. And honestly the lady was being a bitch. She wouldn't let us put it on him so we had to hold him, kicking and screaming, up to the window while she put it on him. I mean REALLY! So I thought for sure after that he would never go on anything but he laid eyes on this boat ride and decided that was the one. Daddy volunteered to go on it with him. It slid back and forth and then in circles. He looked a little tense and nervous and I was praying silently "please hold it together buddy, cause there is no getting off once it starts" It started going and he still looked a little leery. Once it started the spins he got the BIGGEST grin on his face. He loved it. Judd however, looked a tad green around the gills. Not good on the spinny rides.
We then did a fishing game and Logan and Ronan both won prizes. We then did the dreaded pingpong win a goldfish game and wouldn't you know it Logan won another goldfish! The funny thing is is the way the throws the balls. He doesn't toss them gently like most people, he winds up and throws it like a baseball and darned if the dang ball didn't go straight as a missle into the bowl. So I had to carry a plastic baggie full of water and a lone goldfish around the rest of the night. I was hoping the jostling and jiggling wouldn't kill the poor bugger. He even made it through the ride home and introduction to the other fish.
Logan then clapped eyes on the car rides. He rode the semi truck one and the motorcycle one twice. I think he would have rode the motorcycle one all night if they would have let him. He was technically about an inch too tall to ride it but the man let him on. They popped wheelies which I think was the big thrill. We then rode the merry go round and the Dumbo ride and the airplane ride. By then it was well after 10 so we headed home.
I'm so so so bummed I forgot the camera. If you could have only seen the look on Logans face on the boat ride and the motorcycle ride. It was hysterical. He was having such a great time.
Another funny was it was the night Whitesnake and Judas Priest were playing. Whitesnake, well they were certainly not the band I remember. Music was still good but Coverdale is losing it. Rob Halford on the other had has STILL got some pipes. He's gotta be pushing 60 but the man can still let loose a wail. It certainly brought me back to my youth seeing all the 80's get ups. The fringed scarves and jackets, super tight jeans and muscle shirts. Hysterical.
Off to see Thomas the Tank Engine tomorrow so hopefully that goes well....
