I've been playing with jam making this summer and a little of last summer. I use the fruits I get in my weekly market box.
So far this year I've made Triple Berry (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry), Strawberry, Strawberry Vanilla, Asian Pear Vanilla, Pear Vanilla (D'anjou type) Peach, Plum, and Pluot.
I have had varying levels of success. The first Asian Pear Vanilla I made turned out too chunky and sticky. The 2nd attempt I juiced them in my juicer and I liked the consistency better but it did not set up well, more syrup than jam. This last time I used D'janou pears and it seems to be setting better but it still has that pear grit mouth feel. Not sure what I'll do next.
The berry jams have all turned out pretty good. The triple berry I may enter in the fair next year. Waiting for taste testers on the Strawberry Vanilla so we'll see. I like the Pluot version as well. Its pretty good. My peach doesn't really look peachy, it turned out pretty red but it tastes good which I guess is all that matters.

Very impressive! I've never attempted jam.
