They're BAAAACK

We've been seeing these alot the past few days. In case you can't figure it out its a tarantula, yes you read that right a tarantula.

We first saw these right after we moved here. We were headed up to Monterey to the aquarium to celebrate our "anniversary" (weren't married yet) and as we are driving along I see this thing in the road. At first I thought it was a rock but as we got closer I could see that the rock was walking. My brain says "spider!". We pass it and I think "no way". I look at Judd and say "was that a tarantula crossing the road?" and he said "sure looked like it".

After we got back I asked my friend Heather about it. She's lived here a long time and is a nature girl and she said yep it certainly was. This is mating season for them and the ones you see walking about are the males looking for a hook up. I guess they will walk as far as 5 miles to get some! Yeesh!

So when we started seeing them again on the way home from work I knew I had to get a picture. We spotted this one today and were able to stop without impeding traffic or getting run over. Logan was pretty amazed. He did not however want me to put him down, he'd only look at it if I was holding him.
