I need to learn to read

Had our 7 miles training this morning. Checked in, got the route map and started off.

Make my first turn and get to what I think is the second and after a few minutes think "hmm this doesn't seem quite right" It says I'm on Orcutt and I'm supposed to be on Johnson. So I go back to the intersection and continue on my way. I get all the way back to about 3 blocks from the park and run into Sam our running coach. He says "hey you are the first one back". Ummm HUH?

NO FREAKING WAY. So I pull out my map and check it over and realize I took a shortcut so I had to do the piece I cut off at the end and ended up being the last one back. I was telling them all what I had done and that I was wondering why I didn't see anyone else out there and was told it happens all the time so don't worry about it. Thats why there are sweepers out there making sure everyone gets back safely.

I did ok. Not terrific. It was very hilly so it was quite slow going. But on a good note, my new shoes are awesome. They'd be a tad better with a little more cushion but my ankles were not killing me at the end and I could actually get down my stairs without nearly crying. Even now they are a little sore and stiff but usually by this time on training day I was hobbling. And they are not grossly swollen like they would get. So for anyone considering new running shoes I highly recommend going to a store that video tapes you on a treadmill so they can analyze your gait.

So I stop at the store on the way home to get Logan some yogurt (at least I can always rely on him to eat that!) and didn't get home till a little after 11. The kids are still in their jammies and the living room looks like a whirlwind hit it. I guess there was some Wii playing while I was out running. Logan is still in his jammies as he refuses to get dressed. Silly boy.

ooh, getting lost is not my favorite! really freaks me out, actually. I'm glad you found your way back. lol. and great news on the shoes! amazing the difference you feel with the right pair. now, you won't dread running so much, right?

btw, I was just re-reading what I typed ... that "dread" comment was totally sarcastic. you know that, right? lol. anyway, I was mostly talking about me and my love-hate relationship with running. I don't know if anyone else can relate to it. *sigh* I love the rush you get and sweat and all, but man, I have to really make myself get up to do it.
